Parvovirus is a highly infectious disease that can be fatal. Many dogs who are diagnosed with parvo will die. The virus attacks cells in a dog's intestines and stops them from being able to absorb vital nutrients. This means that a dog or puppy will become very weak and dehydrated. 21 авг. 2019 г.


Can a dog survive parvo?

Adult and older dogs who contract parvo have better chances of survival than puppies. The survival rate of dogs treated by a veterinarian is 68–92%. Dogs and puppies that are diagnosed and treated within 24 to 72 hours following the first symptoms have the best survival rate and in most cases make a full recovery.

Can a dog live a normal life after parvo?

Unfortunately parvovirus infection can be fatal, despite all intervention. When they do recover, most dogs are able to go back to a completely normal life. After discharge from the hospital they may continue to shed the virus for 3-4 weeks.
