As the tapeworm grows, some of its segments containing heaps of eggs will be released into your dog's feces. They may also be seen around your dog's bottom or in their bedding. These segments may look like moving pieces of rice or dried-out, hard yellow specks that can stick to your dog's coat.


What do worm eggs look like in dog stool?

Tapeworm segments, called proglottids, each have eggs inside and break off to be passed out in the dog's feces. These segments often appear as white specks in the dog's stool and will look similar to a grain of rice or sesame seed. These segments are often the infective stage of tapeworms.
