Can you go bald from ringworm?

It is sometimes referred to as ringworm of the scalp. The signs and symptoms are variable, but most commonly include itchy, dry/flaky, bald patches on the scalp. Also in some cases, ringworm can result in severe inflammation and lead to permanent hair loss.

Does ringworm affect hair?

On the scalp, ringworm usually begins as a small pimple that progressively expands in size, leaving scaly patches of temporary baldness. The fungus gets into the hair fibers in the affected area and these hairs become brittle and break off easily, leaving a bald patch of skin.
