What are the symptoms of not deworming?

Weight loss. Tiredness, weakness or hunger due to worms. Abdominal pain or tenderness. Dehydration.

What happens when deworming is not done?

A child can go through deworming on a regular basis to get the intestinal worms removed. If the worms are not removed, they can multiply and lay eggs in the intestine, leading to major damage to the body. Some of these intestinal parasites can even be fatal and hence should not be ignored.

Do humans need to deworm regularly?

Yes, adults need deworming too. While there are several programmes in place to promote deworming in children, not enough awareness has been created for deworming in adults.

How do you know when to deworm?

Adults should take a deworming treatment as soon as their little one shows any symptoms (which can include irritability, tiredness, loss of appetite and an itchy bottom, among others). Follow-ups in two to four weeks are also highly recommended if signs and symptoms of an infection are still present.

Is deworming necessary every month?

As a matter of fact, puppies and young dogs should be dewormed when they reach their 21-30 days of age. This means they should be dewormed at least once every month until they're three months old. After that, they can be dewormed once in every two months until they are 6 months old.

What happens if you don't Deworm a puppy?

The worms remain hidden away, deep in your pet's guts. Your pet could be playing, sleeping and eating just fine, but inside he may have worms feeding, growing and multiplying. You wouldn't have a clue until it was possibly too late – scary stuff, right?
