Too much wormer can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and other health problems. Consult your vet immediately if you think your dog has had more than its recommended dose.
Can you overdose your dog on Wormer?
Toxicity can occur if a dog is given an excessive dose of the medication (10 to 20 times the recommended dose). Additionally, certain dogs are genetically hypersensitive to the medication. In these dogs, ivermectin can pass directly to the brain and be toxic or even lethal.
Is it dangerous to worm a puppy twice?
We advise regular worming of puppies from birth to 6 months of age. Puppies 6 months of age and adult dogs are advised to be routinely wormed three to four times a year. It is safest to discuss which wormer to use with your vet to ensure it is safe for your dog, its life stage and that the correct dose is given.
Can a dog be dewormed twice in a week?
Most de-wormers that work against the "typical" intestinal parasites should be given to puppies at 2 - 3 week intervals, ideally starting at 2 weeks of age and continuing for at least 5 - 6 doses.
Can you deworm a dog multiple times?
These guidelines recommend that if regular deworming is used, animals should be treated at least 4 times a year, with no more than 3 months between each treatment. This is based on some research indicating that dropping treatment to 3-4 times per year had no effect on parasite levels.
