The Deworming Process after a Few Days Most deworming products treat roundworms, hookworms and whipworms by paralyzing and killing the parasites; tapeworms are killed and broken up into smaller segments.


What happens to the worms after deworming?

Most deworming treatments work in two to six hours after administration. Some medications will dissolve the worms while some will paralyze them. Paralyzed worms pass through the intestinal tract and are passed out in your puppy's poop. This is why you will notice that your puppy poops worms after deworming.

How long after deworming a dog are the worms gone?

It can take as little as two hours for the worms to start dying off. However, in most cases, the process starts about 12 hours after administering the dewormer. You may continue to see worms in your pup's poop for about a week. If they had a serious infestation, you may see worms for up to two weeks.

One sign that worms are leaving your dog's body are the presence of worms in her stool, as mentioned above. Some worms won't be seen as they dissolve inside of dogs, but others become paralyzed by the medication and may be passed out through stool or vomit.
