What problems do Salukis have?
The potential health problems that Salukis are prone to include: Heart problems. Haemangiosarcoma – malignant tumour of the lining of the blood vessels. Hip dysplasia – hip joint laxity as a result of poor development, which will eventually lead to arthritis.
How long do Saluki Lurchers live?
Whilst there are discrepancies across gender, the average Lurcher will weigh between 27-32 kg, with a life expectancy of approximately 12-15 years.
What dog breed would cancer be?
Great Danes – Prone to short lifespans, dogs of this breed are most likely to die from cancer. Bernese Mountain Dogs – Also a breed with one of the shortest average lifespans, Bernese Mountain Dogs are prone to several forms of cancer. Studies have reported that half of this breed will succumb to cancer.
Are Salukis good pets?
Salukis are quiet at home, extremely gentle with children, and good with other dogs. They make adequate watchdogs, but miserable protection dogs. Salukis must get a chance to run, and run hard, every day. Given this chance, they are moderately obedient, as long as they happen to want the same thing you want.
