What temperature is good for Alaskan Malamute?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

A descendant of artic wolves, the Alaskan Malamute can tolerate temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit. Their thick and waterproof double coat make them suitable for the frozen Artic where in the past, they were part of expeditions to help settlers carry heavy freight sleds. 3 сент. 2021 г.

Can Alaskan malamutes live in hot weather?

Not surprisingly, Malamutes are sensitive to heat. They're Arctic dogs, not designed by nature to live in hot, humid environments. If your Malamute lives in the Sunbelt, be sure to provide them with plenty of shade, freshwater, and air conditioning during the summer, and avoid exercise in the heat of the day.

What is too hot for a Malamute?

Malamutes and other cold-weather breeds would rather be outdoors on cool mornings and evenings, so schedule walks and playtime for those hours. As a rule, limit strenuous activity when the temperature is 70 degrees or higher, though. It may not seem hot to you, but you're not wearing a fur coat.

Do Alaskan malamutes need cold weather?

Blessed with a dense double coat, Alaskan Malamutes can tolerate living outdoors in extremely cold climates. However, they do need adequate shelter and a fenced enclosure, preferably with a roof over it. Because Malamutes have an extremely high pack drive, they are happiest when residing with their pack in the house.
