When did Salukis originate?
Research has shown that the saluki probably emerged as breed in ancient Mesopotamia, now modern Iraq, in the fertile crescent between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Artworks showing dogs that closely resemble the modern breed have been discovered going back at least 6,000 years.
