Where do threadworms come from?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

People, usually children, get infected with threadworms by getting threadworm eggs on their hands and then putting their hands in their mouths. They swallow the eggs, which travel to the lower intestine where they grow into worms. The worms then move to the anus to lay their eggs.

Where do threadworms come from originally?

The worms are caught by accidentally ingesting the eggs, which then hatch and infect the intestine. They can also be transmitted through direct contact with a person who is already infected with worms. It is very easy for people to ingest the eggs because the worms produce so many of them and they are so small.

How do threadworms start?

Threadworms spread when their eggs are swallowed. They lay eggs around your bottom (anus), which make it itchy. The eggs get stuck on your fingers when you scratch.

Where do threadworms eggs come from?

The life cycle of threadworms Before they die, the female worms lay tiny eggs around the back passage (anus). This tends to occur at night when you are warm and still in bed. The eggs are too small to see without a microscope, but cause itching around the anus due to accompanying irritating mucus.

Why do adults keep getting threadworms?

The cause of pinworm infection is inadequate hygiene. Eggs are transferred from the anus of an infected person to either their own mouth, re-infecting themselves, or another surface. If somebody else touches that contaminated surface and then touches their mouth, they may have ingested the eggs and can become infected.
