Where do Toxocara worms come from in dogs?

Toxocariasis is caused by worms found in some dog, cat and fox poo. Animals with these worms in their digestive system can pass out worm eggs in their poo. You can become infected if poo, soil or sand containing these eggs gets in your mouth.


How do dogs get Toxocara?

Dogs can become infected with Toxocara canis by ingesting feces or soil which is contaminated with larvae. If the dog eats an infected animal (rat, mice, birds) he may contract the roundworm.

Where do worms come from in dogs?

Some of the most common ways to contract worms in dogs include: Drinking contaminated milk from the mother during nursing. Rolling in, sniffing, eating, stepping in or licking contaminated soil. Consuming infected prey like rodents, birds, and reptiles.
