Why are Whippets anxious?

All dogs suffer separation anxiety if they're left alone at home for too long. In my experience, Whippets tend to be more susceptible to stress when their family is not at home than some other breeds. Adult Whippets can be left alone for a reasonable amount of time.

Are Whippets prone to anxiety?

Whippets can suffer from separation anxiety or crate claustrophobia. Although no one is sure where this trait comes from—genes or the environment—it's best to give your Whippet plenty of exercise and playtime before leaving him home alone. Or, get two, and they'll keep each other company.

How do you calm down a Whippet?

'Help them learn to switch off and relax' Make sure they aren't hungry or need the toilet and then set them up with a nice cosey space to relax and nest. You can also practice a 'settle' exercise with them to help them learn to switch off and relax. '

What age does a Whippet calm down?

They do go through an adolescent stage around 8 months (stroppy teenager phase) as their hormones start kicking in. So someone of it may well settle down, but it might be worth getting some more professional advice from a behaviourist.
