Why does my dog only eat when I feed him?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

Your Dog Is Scared When you start feeding them with your hand, they don't stop eating altogether, instead, they develop a new habit. Many dogs in this situation stop eating from their bowls because they know their bowl is not a safe place.

Why won't my dog eat unless I feed him?

Separation anxiety. If you feed them close to leaving for the day, they figure if they don't eat, you can't go. Anxiety or fear. Something scared them at the bowl, like another dog or a loud noise.

Why does my dog not want to eat from his bowl?

Your dog could just simply be following his instincts. Some dogs cant stand the noise a metal food bowl makes. If your dog has one of those they could the sound could be increasing their anxiety or stressing them out. Your dog may not like being watched while he eats so he moves to a more discrete area of the home.
