【Expert answer】
Any Q

If your dog was happy eating from their bowl and then suddenly stops it could be for a number of reasons. Usually this is due to discomfort from illness or injury, or if you have changed their food. Some dogs do not like the sound of their name tags clanging on a metal bowl, or being watched whilst they eat.

Why won't my dog eat his food out of his bowl?

Your dog could just simply be following his instincts. Some dogs cant stand the noise a metal food bowl makes. If your dog has one of those they could the sound could be increasing their anxiety or stressing them out. Your dog may not like being watched while he eats so he moves to a more discrete area of the home.

How do I get my dog to eat out of his bowl?

Try pouring a little chicken broth or stock in the bowl to encourage him to eat from the bowl and give him lots of praise when he decides to go ahead and eat. Keep food availability to a minimum, say for around 20 minutes before picking up the bowl. Keep trying until he is ready to eat the minute you put the bowl down.

Why will my dog only eat from my hand?

Some dogs may be naturally more protective of their food and treats than others. Hand feeding your dog discourages resource guarding—your dog protecting their food. Your dog learns that you are the only pathway toward food and that you are the source of rewards and goodies.

Why isn't my dog eating his own food?

Dogs may go off their food because of changes in their environment, stress, an adverse reaction to drugs, and nausea. Dental problems, pain and internal obstructions can also cause dogs to lose their appetite.
