When Alaskan Malamutes are bored they can appear lazy or disinterested. If your Alaskan Malamute isn't showing interest in their favourite game or toy, it means something's wrong. Similarly, if they're barking or whining, it means that they want some attention and are letting you know as best they can.
Do Malamutes like being alone?
Malamutes don't relish being left alone, and will become destructive if you leave them for half a day or a full day. They can be alone for a few hours as long as they are well exercised beforehand.
Are Malamutes high energy?
Alaskan Malamutes are high-energy dogs, and therefore require vigorous exercise. If you plan to leave them home while you're at work, you may see some anxious, destructive behavior. A dog walker or pet sitter during the day is practically a must if you can't be home, yourself.
