Can you see parasites in dogs stool?

Sometimes, you can see segments of tapeworms in the pet's stool (they look like pieces of rice) or roundworms (they look similar to spaghetti). However, your pet could still have these parasites without passing any in their stool. Also, some parasites, like hookworms and giardia, cannot be seen by the naked eye.

What do intestinal parasites in dogs look like?

The four main worms found in dog poop are hookworms, whipworms, roundworms and tapeworms. Hookworms are tiny, thin worms with hook-like mouth parts. Whipworms look like tiny pieces of thread that are enlarged on one end. Roundworms look like spaghetti and may be several inches long.
