How long should a greyhound be walked for?

Even though the Greyhound is a racing dog, they're bred for sprinting and only need moderate exercise. A moderate pace walk of around 30-to-45 minutes a day and maybe some short sprints is enough to keep them healthy.

How much exercise is too much for a greyhound?

If they are not used to more than a 10-minute walk or playtime, suddenly expecting more than an hour of activity can set them up for injury and medical problems. If they're over-extended, they may be resistant to exercise or develop mobility issues, anxiety, and exhaustion/lethargy.

Can Greyhounds run long distances?

However, the greyhound is also a distance runner. He can settle into a speed in excess of 35 miles per hour and can run at that rate for distances as great as seven miles (11 kilometres).

How much walking does a greyhound need?

Greyhounds aren't overly energetic, requiring about an hour of exercise daily. They prefer the opportunity for a good couple of runs rather than miles of walking so they are better suited to living in more rural areas.
