How do you know if you have pinworms in your uterus?

Infestation of female genital tract is unusual (7) and most often presents as accidental finding of ova on cervical smears or as vulvovaginitis, salpingitis, pelvic pain, pelvic masses, irregular menstrual cycles, postmenopausal bleeding (2, 4, 5).

Can pinworms migrate to the vagina?

The fertilized female worms migrate down to the perianal and perineal region at night to lay eggs. They also may migrate into the vagina, so the ova or larvae are sometimes observed in the cervicovaginal smears. We present here a case of pinworm ova that were found in routine Papanicolaou smears.
