If Frontline is used, then worming is advised every 1-3 months. This is because Frontline is not effective against any worms. We also advise not to give multiple treatments at the same time. You should leave 2 weeks between administering spot-on treatment (e.g. Advocate) and a worming tablet (e.g. Milbemax).
Can I treat my cat for worms and fleas at the same time?
Advocate and Stronghold are effective against a variety of worms and fleas, but they don't cover ALL worms, so you should still deworm with something like Milbemax or Droncit every 6 months. It's not advisable to use multiple treatments at the same time.
Does flea treatment also kill worms?
It not only kills intestinal parasites, it also protects against heartworm disease as well as fleas (adults and eggs), ticks, and some mites.
Do fleas and worms go together?
Fleas and worms are closely linked as the lifecycle of certain worms that affect our pets involve fleas harbouring worm eggs in their gut. That said, if an animal doesn't have fleas, it doesn't mean it doesn't have worms as not all worm life cycles involve the flea.
