Malamutes need a minimum of two hours of heavy exercise every day. This can be spent running and walking so they can let off steam. As well as this they'll also need extra playtime, free time in the garden and training to help keep their brains active too.

When Alaskan Malamutes are bored they can appear lazy or disinterested. If your Alaskan Malamute isn't showing interest in their favourite game or toy, it means something's wrong. Similarly, if they're barking or whining, it means that they want some attention and are letting you know as best they can.

They are not well-suited to apartment life, and they are certainly high-shedding pooches who need plenty of grooming to keep their coats healthy.
