Do Basenjis like other dogs?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

The basenji can be an aloof dog; very affectionate with his family, but not outgoing to strangers. They originally hunted in packs and are usually good with other dogs if socialized while young. However, some can be argumentative with other basenjis.

Are Basenjis loving dogs?

Basenjis are very affectionate dogs and love their families very much. They are especially good for families who want a quiet breed of dog.

Do Basenjis attach to one person?

An average Basenji is alert, curious, and energetic. They love to climb and can easily make their way over a fence. The Basenji tends to become emotionally attached to one person. They accept other family members and are generally loving and patient with children, but there's one person that is “theirs.”

Are Basenji good with strangers?

Basenjis need extensive exposure to strangers, else their natural caution can cross the line to suspiciousness. But don't let strangers be pushy! Basenjis like to approach people on their own terms. In addition, they don't like to be grabbed at, or held tightly, so I don't recommend them around young children.

Are Basenjis clingy?

Basenjis are extremely compassionate and loyal to their chosen pack but are not overly clingy and are happy to be left alone. Sometimes, they can be aloof with strangers or new dogs but will warm up quickly.
