What is wrong with Lurchers?
The main health concerns for Lurchers are gastric torsion, torn toenails, foot or muscle injuries and heatstroke or heat exhaustion. They may also be prone to osteosarcoma. Lurchers with herding breeds in their ancestry may be prone to eye problems. Autoimmune thyroiditis is common in many dog breeds.
How energetic are Lurchers?
They are speedy but only use it in short bursts where they use up usually all of their energy in one sprint and then promptly retire off to find a comfy bed, they are stealthy but rarely graceful dogs who are goofy rather than athletic looking.

You can also do both! This takes a lot of work, practice and time. Don't then just let them off lead and expect them not to chase until this is so engrained in them that they are making the right decision every single time. Off lead exercise is NOT essential.
