When it comes to grooming and coat care, Salukis are a very low maintenance. They don't shed very much and tend not to have a strong 'dog smell' either. To remove dead fur and keep their coat in tip-top condition, you'll only need to brush your Saluki on a weekly basis.
Do Saluki dogs shed?
Salukis are fastidious and like to be clean. They shed little and require only weekly brushing. Salukis should not reside in homes that have small pets. Even with the best training, a Saluki will view small pets as prey and will try to hunt them.
Why is my Saluki shedding so much?
The issue is actually the dried saliva and dander that attaches itself to the dog's hair. And when those hairs fall out, and spread themselves around your home, the sneezing begins. So, Salukis are low shedding, and therefor not the worst breed for allergy sufferers.

Salukis are known to be gentle, quite sensitive and sometimes reserved, often aloof with strangers. They need weekly brushing, but their longer feathering will need grooming more regularly to prevent their coats from becoming matted.

The saluki is decidedly a one-family dog, tending to be aloof, or even shy, with strangers. This is a devoted, but not particularly demonstrative, breed that will relish sitting by your side, not on your lap. Salukis are quiet at home, extremely gentle with children, and good with other dogs.
