【Expert answer】
Any Q

The American Kennel Club (AKC), American Veterinary Medical Association and other groups discourage pet owners from feeding dogs raw or unprocessed meat, eggs and milk. Is feeding raw meat good for dogs?

Raw meat is likely to contain harmful bacteria like Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli and more. Cooking meat to a safe temperature kills off those harmful bacteria. By feeding uncooked meat, there's a higher risk your dog will develop a foodborne illness or other type of bacterial infection.

Is it better to give dogs raw meat or cooked?

Gently cooked fresh food is just as nutritionally sound for your dog, and cuts down pathogen risks dramatically. If you do go with a raw meat dog food, be sure to serve raw meat fresh but well thawed. Dogs don't want to find their dinner frozen in the middle any more than you would!

What vets say about raw feeding?

CDC recommends against feeding raw food to dogs and cats because of the risk of illness to the pet as well as to people living in the household.
