Should schnauzers be clipped or stripped?
stripping is always an option. clipping cuts the coat but does nothing to remove the undercoat. which makes the overall ratio of guard hair and undercoat 'off' this is why you've got a softer feel. because the coat is soft it mats more easily and doesn't repel dirt and water the way a correct terrier coat should.
How often should a Schnauzer be hand stripped?
They do require regular grooming every 4-6 weeks. This breed does require frequent brushing and combing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, as well as clipping or hand stripping.
What does it mean to strip a Schnauzer?
Hand stripping is a unique way to remove excess hair, or undercoat, from their dog's coat, instead of the common grooming which is clipping or cutting the top layer of the hair on a dog's coat. As the name describes, hand stripping is done by holding the hair and pulling from the root so a new coat is able to grow.
