Does flea medicine kill worms?
It not only kills intestinal parasites, it also protects against heartworm disease as well as fleas (adults and eggs), ticks, and some mites.
Does flea treatment kill tapeworms in cats?
As your cat grows, keeping them on flea preventatives will reduce the risk of contracting the most common tapeworms in their environment: dipylidium caninum. Monthly feline preventatives do not contain the medications needed to eliminate tapeworms in cats.
Does flea medication kill tapeworms?
While one dose is considered effective to kill adult tapeworms, it is recommended to administer a second dose about two weeks later to kill any remaining or newly introduced tapeworms. Effective flea control must also be used simultaneously to clear and prevent reinfection with Dipylidium worms.
Can I treat my cat for worms and fleas at the same time?
Advocate and Stronghold are effective against a variety of worms and fleas, but they don't cover ALL worms, so you should still deworm with something like Milbemax or Droncit every 6 months. It's not advisable to use multiple treatments at the same time.
