In the dog, the signs of a food allergy are usually itchy skin, paws, or ears or digestive disturbances such as vomiting or diarrhea. Other more subtle changes can also occur, including hyperactivity, weight loss, lack of energy, and even aggression.


How long does it take for a dog to react to a food allergy?

In more severe cases, your dog may have an immediate reaction, breaking out in hives, swelling, and vomiting shortly after ingesting the allergen. In many cases, however, it can take several minutes or hours, or as many as 14 days for your dog to start presenting symptoms.

What foods are dogs usually allergic to?
