How much weight can sleds hold?
There is a maximum weight limit of 350 lbs of passenger weight and no more than two adults or three children per sled. Above this weight a second team and sled must be used to accommodate your group, or you can "split" your tour (see our rates page for more information).
How much weight should a sled be loaded?
Load the sled with a moderate-to-heavy load — 70% of your maximum load is a good place to start. If you don't know this, go with a weight that is 70% of your body weight.
How many lbs Can a sled dog pull?
Alaskan Malamutes have pulled as much as 3300# in weight pulling competitions. Of course this is a different condition than a team pulling a tour and it is only a short distance but it gives a perspective of what a dog is capable of. Do you really yell mush!
Can two dogs pull a sled?
Answer: Try skijouring or kicksleds. Skijouring is where a dog pulls you while you are on skis. A kicksled is a light, upright sled that can take 1-2 dogs. Both are rather inexpensive options for the novice.
