Is corn digestible for dogs?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

Well, corn may have health benefits as human food, but it's not as nutritious as you'd think for your dog. Whole fresh corn kernels have insoluble fiber. The hull of the kernel is hard for your dog to digest, so it doesn't digest completely as it moves through the digestive system.

Is corn easily digestible for dogs?

As a whole grain, corn is not easily digestible. That's because unless the kernel is first refined into a meal or a flour and then cooked, corn would be very difficult for a dog to digest. As a matter of fact, corn (and other grains) are only digestible to the extent to which they're processed.

Can corn upset a dog's stomach?

No, dogs should not eat kettle corn. The hard, sweet popcorn kernels can upset their stomach, scratch their throat, and cause abdominal pain. In addition, added sugar is not good for pets. Learn more about if it's okay for dogs to eat popcorn.

Is corn harmful to dogs?
