What age do hounds calm down?
Most dogs are going to start calming down at around six to nine months of age. By the time they've reached full maturity, which is between one and two years of age, all that excessive puppy energy should be a thing of the past!
Can you train a Lurcher not to chase?
You can also do both! This takes a lot of work, practice and time. Don't then just let them off lead and expect them not to chase until this is so engrained in them that they are making the right decision every single time. Off lead exercise is NOT essential.
