What happens during deworming?

【Expert answer】
Any Q

Most deworming products treat roundworms, hookworms and whipworms by paralyzing and killing the parasites; tapeworms are killed and broken up into smaller segments. Some intestinal worms, like hookworms and whipworms, are so small that you won't see any worms in your dog's stool at all.

What to expect after deworming?

After deworming your puppy, expect that your puppy to poop worms. This is because the deworming medication paralyzes the worms, which then pass from the intestines into the feces. What is this? You should expect your dog to experience some diarrhea after deworming.

How long does it take for Deworm to work?

Most dewormers will fall in line with those mentioned in this article, requiring an initial period of only 2-3 weeks to eliminate worms; however, some treatments will also require a second dosage to eradicate the second wave of parasites.

How long will worms come out after deworming?

It can take as little as two hours for the worms to start dying off. However, in most cases, the process starts about 12 hours after administering the dewormer. You may continue to see worms in your pup's poop for about a week. If they had a serious infestation, you may see worms for up to two weeks.
