The Special Investigations Unit (SIU, or "the Unit"; French: Unité des enquêtes spéciales, UES) is the civilian oversight agency in the province of Ontario in Canada responsible for investigating circumstances involving police that have resulted in a death or serious injury, or if a firearm was discharged at a person.

What does the SIU not investigate?
Under the Special Investigations Unit Act, 2019, effective December 2020, the SIU now investigates all instances where an official discharged a firearm at a person, whether or not the person died or was seriously injured. The SIU cannot investigate conduct, services and policies that do not meet these criteria.
