【Expert answer】
Any Q

The virus that causes the disease known as “parvo”, canine parvovirus type 2 (CPV), first emerged among dogs in Europe around 1976. By 1978 the virus had spread unchecked, causing a worldwide epidemic of myocarditis and inflammation in the intestines (gastroenteritis).

How was parvo virus created?

Canine Parvovirus (CPV) was first observed in 1978, and is considered a completely new pathogen for dogs. No conclusive origin of CPV is known, but it is postulated that CPV arose by natural genetic mutations of the feline panleukopenia virus (FPLV).

Who invented parvo virus?

The first human parvovirus that was discovered was the B19 parvovirus. This virus was discovered by a virologist named Yvonne Cossart in London in the 1970¹s while investigating laboratory assays for hepatitis B.

Where is parvo most common?

– Parvovirus, the highly contagious, and potentially deadly, virus which attacks the dog's gastrointestinal tract, has the highest prevalence in New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Arizona and Mississippi.
