Can you treat a dog for worms and fleas at the same time?
We also advise not to give multiple treatments at the same time. You should leave 2 weeks between administering spot-on treatment (e.g. Advocate) and a worming tablet (e.g. Milbemax).
Does deworming help with fleas?
They are given every one or every three months. Some pills and tablets kill only fleas, but most of them kill both fleas and ticks. Most of these kill adult fleas, so stop the lifecycle completely.
Can dogs get fleas from worms?
Worms can be picked up in a variety of ways. Tapeworms are transmitted to dogs by fleas. Immature fleas (larvae) ingest the worm eggs and infection is passed on to a dog when it swallows an infected flea.
How often should I worm and flea my dog?
At least every three months. Depending on your pet's lifestyle, more regular worming may need to be undertaken and it is recommended this be discussed with your vet if you are concerned.
