Why don t the Packers have a mascot?
Green Bay Packers Using the origins of the Green Bay Packers as a mascot might be a worse idea than the Jets. The Packers are named after a meat packing company. They do all like wearing cheese on their heads, though. So at least the Packers aren't wanting for team symbolism.
Why are they called the Packers?
Indian Packing was bought out by Acme Packing in 1921 and so that's the name that went on the jerseys the first year Lambeau's team played in the American Professional Football Association, the precursor to the National Football League. The Acme Packers became the Packers.
What does the G stand for on the Packers helmet?
While everyone assumes the "G" stands for "Green Bay," the oval logo actually stands for "Greatness." The Packers hold a trademark on the logo which was created by equipment manager George Braisher back in 1961.
